The ability to go further out into the fishing grounds (without rowing) in a small self-powered boat that you could rent instead of own spread like wildfire across North America: there was excellent salmon fishing at Sewell's Marina, it was fun, and it was easy. The innovation of fitting lawn mower engines to rowboats separated Sewell's Marina from it's competitors.

Big name stars came like Bing Crosby, Ray Milland and Fred McMurray as well as politicians such as the Rt. Honourable Lester Pearson and the Rt. Honourable John Diefenbaker, both Prime Ministers of Canada of their time.
The celebrity list from those heady days has continued, with famous professional athletes, actors and actresses visiting the Marina, more often these days to rent their own boat to escape into the peace and beauty of Howe Sound. |
