On average, chartering from Sewell's Marina means 15 to 20 minutes running time to the fishing grounds. Horseshoe Bay is uniquely located in the center of most of Vancouver's prime fishing spots, such as off the Fraser River, the Capilano, the Straight of Georgia or in our near-by Hole in the Wall. Our experienced skipper-guides know all the secret spots and can get you there fast. Sewell's Marina has a long history of fishing, having held Salmon Fishing Derbies for over 75 years!
Our charter fleet reflects the highest standards. All boats are owner-operated by hand-picked local guides. These guides have experience, personality, and own modern, well maintained boats that are fully equipped with tackle and bait. Many of these guides have been associated with Sewell's Marina for more than twenty years.
The best time to fish is anytime! The five salmon species; Chinook (King), Coho (Silvers), Pinks, Chum and Sockeye are all frequenting the Straight of Georgia and Howe Sound area. Depending on the time of year the prime fishing area can change. Some of the areas we commonly fish are: Capilano River, Defence Islands, Tunstall Bay and 3rd marker, Fraser River area, Thrasher Rock and Gulf Islands, South end of Bowen Island and right here at Hole in the Wall. Most of these fishing spots are in the protected waters of Howe Sound which provide comfortable fishing in all weather conditions. Check out the Fishing Report on the top right of the page.

Trips to the Gulf Islands are 8 hours and depend on weather and fishing conditions.

When and Where to fish ... According to our guides - all of the time! Chinook or King salmon are found year-round in our local hot spots in Howe Sound. Coho, Sockeye, Pink and Chum salmon migrate and feed in the local area, from May to October.
