 The entertainment world had gotten the word out from dressing rooms in California to Maine to Florida, "If you play Vancouver, be sure to fish at Sewell's. By the time the post-war boom in the late 40's had passed, many big name stars had tried the luck, "people like Bing Crosby, Ray Millard and Fred McMurray.

 Unimpressed were the salmon in Howe Sound when Bing Crosby turned up for a little fishing with Danny Sewell. But that is how fishing goes sometimes. He was a very down-to-earth, impressionable guest and ended up bagging a huge crab for dinner.

 This story was first published in The Vancouver Sun by Mike Cramond on Tuesday, July 24, 1962:

Horseshoe Bay with Roy Rogers,  Roy's two sons, Dusty, and Sandy, with dimunitive Danny Sewell. Danny was their Captain, guide and companion, boatman, ghille, and deckhand, a job that looked much too big for one so young.

He beat us to the anchorage spot in the Gap, and had his lines down while I was still trying to hook the anchor over the ledge in such a position that we would hand "expertly" over the 80-foot depth of the "hole".

While we were still baiting up young Danny hollered "Which one of you wants to land this one?" And, without a willing taker he went on to land a seven pound spring.
