Common Merganser Mom is seen here in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver swimming with five cute Merganserlettes (aka ducklings). Mom has her work cut out for her protecting them from the two Glaucous-winged Gulls that are in pursuit not to mention the Bald Eagles soaring over head.

These ducks are taking advantage of their food options in the water, lots of herring and stickleback have been seen swimming in the water column.
