The History with the Sea Safari really started back at the beginning in 1931 when the Sewell family wanted to share their love for the outdoors with people near and far. However, at that time most people they entertained had roots in fishing. As time went by the Sewell family introduced new ways to create memories for people on the waters of Howe Sound. In 1996 they embarked on creating a guided tour around the stories of the Sound. With the rich history of this area there was an abundance of things to share.
Since then the tour has been fine tuned, the fleet has grown, but the fundamentals of the tour has its roots well embedded in the old history of the Sewell family.
Today the tour consists of a melding of history, marine biology, geography and oceanography. All the while having a wonderful boat ride taking in the sights that can only be witnessed by the waters perspective.
The partnership that we have with the Vancouver Aquarium Research Team, Pacific Wildlife Foundation, Artists for Conservation and all of the multi-generational connections have allowed for a very enriching experience on one of the worlds most picturesque landscapes.
In 2013 the Sea Safari was accepted into the Canadian Signature Experiences Collection. It is an honour to be among some of the most authentic experiences possible across the country.
The tour has hosted celebrities, those with varying disabilities, adventurous people in their late years (one couple aged 93 and 95 years) and everyone in between. We look forward to each season and for every smile, high-five and hug we receive it is the greatest gift.
